          ​Differential servicing is often overlooked during routine maintenance. The internal gears of the differential are bathed in gear oil to help lubricate and cool the gears while the vehicle is moving. Overtime, the fluid breaks down and tiny metal fragments from the gears and bearings collect in the fluid. This fluid must be inspected and/or changed once a year or every 50,000 miles. The cost of preventative maintenance is much less then the cost of a failed part such as a bearing or pinion seal.
